Best ever GCSE results for Stockport Academy

Students and staff at Stockport Academy are celebrating today, after figures show the school has achieved its best ever GCSE results.

On first sitting, 57% of students gained five or more GCSEs at grades A* to C (including English and maths) – a significant increase on last year, once again making it one of the most improved schools in the area.

Among those collecting their results were:

  • Ben Murphy, who achieved 6 A*s and 4 As
  • Holly Battrick, who achieved 3 A*s and 6 As
  • Rebekah Etchells, who achieved 2 A*s and 7 As
  • Rachel Smith, who achieved 2 A*s and 6 As

Mr McCarron, Executive Principal of Stockport Academy, said: “Everyone at the academy is absolutely delighted with these results - our best yet and further evidence of the sustained improvement which the school continues to make. Students and staff have worked incredibly hard all year to maintain this momentum, so today’s results are a fitting reward. Congratulations to all of our students who are celebrating today.”

Holly Battrick, who now plans on studying Psychology, History and Biology at Aquinas College, said: “I’m really happy with my results and didn’t think I’d do this well! I’ve tried really hard though but I was still really nervous last night. Now I can’t wait to celebrate with my friends!”

A huge well done to everyone who has worked so hard in the run up to today – and the best of luck to our Year 11s for the future.
