Rave reviews for Year 10 Drama students at National Theatre Festival

Our Year 10 drama group raised the roof after wowing judges and their audience at the Connections Theatre Festival.

The group had been given a play called ‘Three’ to make their own. The script was a cleverly written piece that allowed the audience to hear their inner thoughts as well as what they were actually saying out loud.

Having already been visited by a National Theatre representative at the academy, when students acted out their production before receiving feedback, this time they performed in front of a lively audience in Manchester at the Home Theatre.

On the day, rehearsals took place in the morning, followed by an afternoon session with the professional technical team to ensure everything would go without a hitch once the curtain was raised in the evening.

Their performance itself was really well received and received good feedback from the judges. Once every play has been performed, the best productions will be invited down to London at the National Theatre itself.

Drama Teacher Ms Keough said: “This was an amazing opportunity because we were treated like a professional theatre company from the minute we walked through the door. The experience gave the students a real insight into theatre as a career and really excelled with everything that was thrown at them throughout the day.”
