Stockport Academy Retains Top Careers Advice Award

Stockport Academy has retained its Gold Inspiring IAG Award following its annual inspection.

The honour, which recognises quality provision in schools for careers information, advice and guidance is available to all schools, with only the best receiving the Gold.

Inspectors commented that Stockport Academy ‘delivers an excellent careers package to its students’, while students themselves ‘spoke highly of the service they received’.

On Wednesday 22nd November, Year 11s will be off their usual timetable to take part in the academy’s IAG Day, which will see them participate in mock interviews, CV workshops and other activities designed to boost their employability and give them key skills to enable them to succeed in the world of work.

Parents and students are also invited to visit a Careers Fair at the end of the day, with representatives from local colleges, universities and apprenticeship providers all attending.

Principal Mrs McCann said: “We are delighted that we have been awarded the Gold IAG Award for another year as this is such an important service we offer to all of our students.

“We are truly committed to ensuring every young person who leaves the academy after Year 11 is equipped with all the skills and knowledge to make the most of their potential in the future.”
