Stockport Academy Welcomes National Schools Commissioner
Stockport Academy opened its doors to one of the most senior figures of the education sector recently, with the visit of National Schools Commissioner Sir David Carter.
Following a tour around the school, Sir David visited several lessons including Drama, Dance and PE, speaking with students and teachers about life at Stockport Academy to find out more about the secrets to its success.
The academy achieved its best ever GCSE results this year and was also shortlisted for the final eight for the National TES Secondary School of the Year Award. In September it was also honoured with the BIG Anti-Bullying Award for the third year in a row.
Sir David is one of a number of distinguished guests to visit the academy, with the school also hosting Ofsted Chief Inspector Amanda Spielman and her predecessor Sir Michael Wilshaw over the last year.
