Stockport Academy celebrates International Day of Languages

Students and staff have turned out in style to celebrate International Day of Languages.

Organised by our MFL department, students had the opportunity to sample continental food during break, with options ranging from German sausage to Belgian chocolate.

In addition, Year 7 and 8 students were encouraged to dress up in an international theme – either wearing traditional attire of another country or wearing the colours of their chosen country’s flag.

All those who took part were judged at lunchtime by Mr McCarron, with Nimrah Ilyas coming in first place and winning a Nando’s voucher. Madison Patronick and Olivia Pennington finished second and third respectively, receiving a box of chocolates each for their efforts.

Staff also made an impressive effort with their fancy dress – and it was a Mexican Mr Prince who narrowly pipped a traditionally-German-dressed Ms Hensel to the prize of best-dressed.

Head of MFL Ms Hindley said: “We’ve had a great day celebrating other cultures and I am delighted that so many members of the Stockport Academy community have got involved.”
