Stockport Academy celebrates Young Carers Awareness Day
Staff and students celebrated Young Carers Awareness Day in style with a party in the refectory.
Following their morning assembly, Year 7 students held up pieces of coloured card to create a giant Y and C to show their support and officially kick off the day.
At lunch, all of the school’s young carers attended an invitation-only get-together, complete with balloons, party poppers and a delicious giant cake.
Last year, Stockport Academy was the only school in the country to receive the Carers Trust Gold Award for Young Carers and you can view a video that showcases some of the work we do to support Young Carers here.
Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer Mrs Fox said: “Young Carers Awareness Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate a group of truly amazing young people.
“We’ve had a great day today and the work we’ve done has hopefully helped to raise the profile of Young Carers even further within our community.”
