Our Awards

Our school values are 'Believe, Aspire, Achieve, Respect', and part of this ethos involves the Academy and its students striving for success at every opportunity. We are proud to show that these efforts have recognised not only on a local, but also a national scale over the last few years - here are some examples of the awards we have won along the way.

Diana Award

      

Over the last four years we have been delighted to have had a number of successful Diana awards both for individuals and for groups of students. We have also been selected by the Diana Trust to be one of its showcase schools for practices to tackle bullying.

Sainsbury's School Games Gold Award

The Sainsbury's School Games Gold Award marks the fantastic work our PE staff have put into the PE programme during the academic year - covering not just time spent during the school day but also through after-school enrichment activities.

Young Carers in Schools Gold Award

Stockport Academy was the only school in the country to receive the Gold Award for the Young Carers in Schools (YCiS) Programme in 2015.

Organised by the Carers' Trust, YCiS assesses schools on the support they offer young carers, as well as the training on offer to staff in identifying them and meeting their needs.

MEN Schools Awards

   

In 2015, Mr McCarron was honoured at the Manchester Evening News Schools Awards with the title of 'Headteacher of the Year' - click here for more details.

Following on from this tremendous success, the Stockport Academy website was named as the School Website of the Year just 12 months later, highlighting the high regard the school is held in across Greater Manchester.

Discovering Democracy Award

Stockport Academy was presented with the British Youth Council's National Discovering Democracy Award by local MP Ann Coffey in 2016. The school was judged to deserve this prestigious honour based on our focus on raising social and political awareness among students, in particular through the work carried out by our Student Council.

BIG Anti-Bullying Award


In 2013 we were awarded the BIG (Bullying Intervention Group) Anti-Bullying Award. We became the first school in our area to receive this special award for its management of bullying and at the time of the award the faster secondary school in the country to achieve it.

Show Racism the Red Card

In 2014, Stockport Academy students Holly Battrick, Emily Riley and Elisha Boycott claimed first prize in the Show Racism the Red Card School Competition. The students created a poster which was awarded the first prize in Year 7-9 artwork category of this national competition.

In 2015, Rebecca Little was awarded third prize in the same category for her poster, titled 'A world with colour is a lot less duller!' Rebecca accepted her prize at Anfield football ground in Liverpool at a special ceremony.
