Mount Snowdon Charity Trek

On Saturday 1st October our Year 11 students took part in a sponsored walk to raise money to help to build classrooms at Habarana School in Sri Lanka.

Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of the local community we raised £2,047 for this fantastic cause. Mr McCarron has kindly pledged to top this up to a grand total of £3,000!

A huge well done to everyone involved

The Story

Habarana School is run by a local priest, Father Damian Perera, who works 15 hours a day to provide children in this impoverished area with the education they need. Father Perera works not only as the headteacher, but also a teacher of English, a cook and a cleaner - in addition to his duties serving a parish that covers many hundreds of miles.

At present, over 300 children are crammed into three or four undersized rooms for most lessons. The school needs at least £10,000 to build the extension it needs and we hope our walk will go someway towards helping them reach this total.
