Stockport Academy Anti-Bullying Ambassadors share best practice

Our Anti-Bullying Ambassadors spent Tuesday afternoon sharing information on how they successfully tackle bullying with other schools from across the North West.

The group was invited to speak at the Diana Award training session held at Saddleworth School in Uppermill, where there were representatives from a wide range of schools from across the region.

After five of our ABAs led a presentation on the good work being carried out at Stockport Academy, they then fielded a Q&A session, with the audience clearly hungry to find out more about some of the innovative projects that have taken place at the school, including our recent Anti-Bullying Week Flashmob and ‘Beat the Bull(y)’ competition.

Stockport Academy was named as one of the Diana Award’s anti-bullying showcase school last year and the group clearly proved why this was the case, with ABA member Megan Deans also among the top scorers in an anti-bullying quiz that also took place during the afternoon.

Students were also given advice by the Diana Award Anti Bullying Pro team on how to better engage their peers and plan awareness projects, before they were challenged to raise the profile of anti-bullying further through a social media competition where they were challenged to come up with an interesting post to encourage their audience to share their message. Mrs Nicholls, who leads the ABAs, said: “I am really proud of the five students who represented Stockport Academy today and they were a credit to the school. They were confident, knowledgeable and answered all questions thrown at them, which is no mean feat!

“The work we all do at the academy to tackle bullying makes such a difference and I’m glad our students are so engaged on the issue.”
