Stockport Academy turns into tearoom for charity afternoon

Our Charity Reps turned the school’s dance studio into a tearoom this afternoon to put on a special event for a local community group.

Students welcomed Socially Yours into Stockport Academy for afternoon tea, serving them hot drinks, sandwiches and sweet treats.

Socially Yours encourages people to get out of their homes and into a new setting, meeting new friends and learning crafts and skills along the way – and the afternoon was a perfect opportunity for our students to mingle with their guests and support the charity.

The school choir performed two songs beautifully before Y11 student Becci Bunting sang a moving acapella solo rendition of ‘I dreamed a dream’.

Once everyone had their fill of tea and cake, Charity Reps Megan Deans and Emily Cooper led a game of Bingo with their guests, with chocolate prizes handed out for the winners.

Pastoral Manager Mrs McCann, who also leads the school’s charity group, said: “We always love welcoming Socially Yours into Stockport Academy and today was no exception.

“Our students were once again fantastic ambassadors for the school and were polite, helpful and made sure every one of our visitors had a truly enjoyable afternoon – and I would like to thank them for making such an effort to support a group that does such valuable work in our community.”
