Stockport Academy charity group impresses at awards evening

Our charity group left a lasting impression on a panel of judges at a recent awards ceremony honouring those who volunteer to support their local area.

The Community Champion Awards – organised by the Myriad Foundation – invited Stockport Academy to attend the event after hearing about all of the hard work our students do in making a positive difference to those around them both in and out of school.

Four members of our charity committee – Megan Deans, Emily Cooper, Jaye-Lea Towers and Destiny Davison – delivered a presentation to all of the guests on the projects they had been involved in, which included hosting afternoon tea sessions for Socially Yours and raising money for charity through a variety of events.

Pastoral Manager Mrs McCann, who leads the charity group, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of our students. They were so confident in front of a big group of people and really put across well just how passionate they are about getting involved in their local community.

“I would like to say a big well done to all four of the girls who came on the night, along with the rest of our charity team who work tirelessly to support some really good causes.”
