Busiest ever Open Evening at Stockport Academy

A record number of visitors came through our doors last night (21st September) to see what the school had to offer as part of our Open Evening.

Between 6pm and 8pm we welcomed around 500 people into Stockport Academy, who then had the opportunity to take a tour around the school, hear from Mr McCarron and speak to both teaching and support staff.

Activities were organised in every department including exciting demonstrations and experiments in Science, a murder mystery challenge in History, volcano making in Geography, bookmark making in Textiles, 3D printer demonstrations in product design and a chocolate tasting survey in Maths.

Meanwhile, the entire English department dressed up as characters from Harry Potter for the evening and a golden ticket hunt took place in the Library. There were also performances from the choir, SA dance group and drama group.

Mr McCarron said: “I am delighted that our Open Evening was such a success and it was a pleasure to welcome the local community into Stockport Academy once again.

“For the second year running we have seen a record number in attendance and this speaks volumes about all we have achieved over the last 12 months.”

If you would like more information on Stockport Academy or would like to look around our facilities during the school day, we will be revealing transition tour dates shortly on our website.
