Performing Arts Showcase makes its Stockport Academy debut

Our Expressive and Performing Arts (EPA) department showcased the very best talent the academy has to offer at a special EPA evening.
From dance troupes to drama groups and from singers to musicians, the 90 minute show in the hall at the end of the Christmas term was played out in front of a packed audience and featured an eclectic mix of short performances.
The evening started with a return to Stockport Academy for former student Mali Hayes, who is now a professional musician and performed her debut EP ‘Quiet Silence’ to a fantastic reception. Her story of success in the arts set the tone for the night, with plenty of current students who took part in the show surely destined for greatness themselves!
Among the performances was a rousing rendition of Katy Perry’s pop hit ‘Firework’ by our Year 9 Guitar Group, a hilarious ‘Crayola’ comedy sketch by the Year 8 Drama group and a foot-tapping display by our Samba enrichment club.
Head of EPA Mrs Campbell said: “This was our first EPA Showcase Evening and it was quite a hit! We are all very proud of the students who were involved in this and can’t thank them enough for their hard work in making it such an enjoyable experience.
“All money raised from ticket sales on the night has been put towards buying the EPA department a brand new drum kit, so thank you to those who came out to support our students on the night as part of the audience. We can’t wait for next year’s show already!”
