When and where is Club 1?
Club 1 takes place every Tuesday after school between 2.40 and 3.30pm at Life Leisure Avondale, which is located across the school car park.
What is Club 1?
Club 1 came about as part of our Girls' Active project. By using your feedback and running a taster leisure centre day we came up with a Club especially for all girls. Students take part in fun and current exercise sessions. At present these are spinning and Zumba (as voted for). We are free to give our ideas to the GLAM squad (girls that promote being physically active) and centre staff so that we can also do other sessions such as boxercise and swimming if enough people want. Club 1 is free until February then will cost £1 or 50p (depending upon numbers). We have a stamp card and when we reach mile stones we get rewards, the first reward is a nice black and pink 'Club 1' T-shirt that can be worn in PE lessons.
Why should I go to Club 1 each week?
-First of all Club 1 is a chance to really enjoy yourself. It's all about fun and enjoying keeping fit. Club 1 offers a relaxed atmosphere where you can have a real laugh with friends.
-It is for ALL girls (once in year 8), so come along and meet new people.
-Club 1 is not about competitive sport and winning, it's just about being active and enjoying it.
-We get to meet leisure centre staff and work with trained instructors, the aim is to get familiar with using the leisure centre and build healthy habits for life.
-We may also be able to get offers on gym memberships (age 14+) or spot draw prizes for gym memberships and we (the students) will be discussing this with leisure centre staff.
-You should be building exercise into your everyday life. . . it is so important for your health!
