Enrichment - Tank Building Club

Tank Building Club is exactly what it sounds like - students build their own remote-control tanks before battling them!

When and where does Tank Club take place?

Tank Club takes place every Friday during Period 6 in G09 (Resistant Materials), which is where the building and battling takes place. Battles also sometimes take place outside depending on the weather.

What does tank building involve?

The club is run by Mr Rochford, who has spent many years building the remote-control vehicles as a hobby - and even participating in competitions in the US with his home-made tanks!

Mr Rochford teaches the students the basics behind putting the tanks together, maintaining, repairing and operating them.

How do the tanks 'battle'?

Every tank can fire Nerf missiles, and each battle sees students split into teams, trying to score the most points by getting a direct hit on their opponent's base and tank. Students are encouraged to communicate with one another to develop strategies to take them to victory, and write their own battle reports - some of which can be read below.
