Humanities
The Humanities Faculty consists of four very experienced teachers in Geography, History and Religious Studies and this is supplemented by two Assistant Principals who teach part-time within the Faculty.
The Faculty is suited along the lower ground floor of our building. Every room has an interactive whiteboard with multimedia projector, fast internet access and access to many resources via the intranet and internet. There is also an ICT suite (with 30 state of the art PC's) located adjacent to the faculty.
The amount of curriculum time given to Humanities emphasises its importance in developing this area of curriculum experience for all of our students. Largely we follow the national curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4 and currently we have an A level History group operating in our inaugural Year 12.
Faculty priorities at the moment are to further develop the Key Stag 3 National Strategy and new Year 7 curriculum, to establish links with our local primary schools and to maintain and develop our Post 16 provision. We also intend to further develop our work with gifted and talented cohort and the Humanities Faculty is a main contributor to the Year 7 STAR initiative which seeks to develop independent learning skills and thinking skills in students in their first years in the academy.
