Physical Education

Stockport academy is blessed with some of the best facilities not just in the North West but probably in the country. The new build brought with it:
  • A state of the art, ‘4 badminton court sized' Sports hall
  • A state of the art Dance studio, complete with sprung floor and lighting/sound studio
  • A 75m by 45m state of the art ‘3G' astro turf which plays like grass (rubber based not sand)
  • A smaller 6 a side enclosed ‘3G' astro turf
  • A 75m by 45m fully drained grass pitch
  • Changing facilities (inc disabled access to all areas) with individual shower and changing areas

Linked with this, as the site is shared with a Target fitness centre Stockport Academy has access to:

  • Two further Sports halls
  • A 25 metre swimming pool
  • A modern exercise gym with state of the art exercise equipment

As a result the depth of activities offered within PE is huge and includes:

Basketball Rounders Tennis Athletics
Badminton  Dance  Volleyball    

As well as 2 hours of core Physical Education lessons for all, the department offers examination courses at Key Stage 4 and in the Sixth Form.  Courses include GCSE PE, BTEC Sport Level 2 and 3, Community Sports Leader Award and the Junior Football Leader Award, all of which prepare students for lifelong learning and progression to University.

There are numerous clubs and teams available for students before school, at lunch and after school.
