Key Stage 4 - Core ICT
CORE ICT
OCR Nationals First Award
All students at the Academy study ICT as a compulsory subject:
The OCR National Awards Scheme.
Why? Simply because, it is vital to have the skills, knowledge and understanding to address ever changing technological advances, in the real world, the workplace and further education.
Every student at the Academy has the opportunity to gain a First Award in ICT equivalent to 1 GCSE (Grade A-C)
*Some students will go further and gain 2 GCSEs
What skills will I gain from studying OCR Nationals in ICT?
OCR Nationals in ICT build on the tasks that you have already begun studying in Y9. They are challenging yet attainable qualifications which relate directly to the expectations of employers. They give students hands-on experience in a wide range of career linked skills, while supporting their progression to the workplace or higher education. This programme includes exciting ICT topics
How will I be assessed?
All units are portfolio based and externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator. There will be NO external Exam. The units are graded: Pass; Merit; Distinction. (The Pass is equivalent to a C grade GCSE, the merit to a B grade and the Distinction is equivalent to an A grade GCSE).
