OCR Nationals in Business Award; (worth 2 GCSE's A*-C) and OCR Nationals in ICT National Ward (worth 2 GCSE's A*-C)

Why study OCR Nationals in Business and ICT?
We are bringing together a combined option group for those students who best suit a vocational form of study; these students will study the OCR Nationals in Business during the single option and will use their CORE ICT lesson with an additional lesson to complete the ICT elements of the course. The mandatory unit for ICT: ICT skills for Business that you have started in year 9 will be adapted to form one of the mandatory units of OCR national in Business.
What skills will I gain from studying OCR Nationals in Business?
These qualifications will provide the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to start work, or progress to further study. You will complete the two compulsory units below and another unit from a wide range of options, for example; Unit 1 Investigating business: Looks at why and how companies operate in different ways, this unit covers topics such as business aims, the various types of ownership, and organisational structure. Students also learn about the importance of location and the influence of stakeholders, and study competition, in terms of price, product and customer service.

You will also study three other optional units; one from Business and two from ICT (for more details of the ICT optional units please see pages 42-43)
How will I be assessed?
All units are centre-assessed and externally moderated by an OCR Visiting Moderator. There will be No external exam.
All units and the full Award (Business) with the National Award (ICT) are graded: Pass; (GCSE: C ) Merit; (GCSE B) Distinction. (GCSE A/A*)
Where can OCR Nationals in ICT & Business lead?
Progression into employment: These qualifications are designed to enable candidates to enter employment at operative or trainee level within a wide range of business environments. Such candidates would normally enter employment through a work-related training programme. This programme can lead to many specialised careers including film production, advertising and marketing, product design, broadcasting; setting up your own business and.
Progression to further qualifications: These qualifications have been designed to aid progression to employment o further education, for example; GCE Business or OCR level 3 Business. They will also provide a basis for progression to other qualifications at Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework.
What we expect from you:
You must have completed most of Unit 1 of the OCR national in ICT from year 9. Enthusiasm for the subject is essential, with a willingness to find out about business and ICT in the real world. A commitment to producing high quality coursework is needed as this is 100% coursework. Level 5 in Maths, English Language and ICT are expected.
What you can expect:
You will visit business's and have educational visits to wide range of organisations that use ICT to help you understand how business and ICT runs in the real world. A trip abroad will be included.
