Health and Social Care

This single award GCSE is available at Key Stage 4.  Health and Social Care is a popular and successful course and many students continue to study related courses at Key Stage 5.  The course consists of two mandatory units:

  • Health, Social Care and Early Years Provision.  This is assessed through an externally set controlled assessment.
  • Understanding Personal Development and Relationships.  This is assessed through an externally set examination.

The course is a vocational qualification and provides students with a broad background in Health and Social Care.  It provides a base for further study, which could include Diplomas, GCEs, NVQs or Modern Apprenticeships.  Stockport Academy works closely with other Stockport schools, further education providers and with representatives from local Health, Social Care and Early Years providers.

There are opportunities at both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 for all students through these links.
