SPORT - BTEC First Certificate in Sport

Key features of the BTEC Firsts in Sport

  • Provides opportunities for you to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the sport sector or to progress to further qualifications such as the Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Sport.
  • Provides opportunities for you to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.

Is this subject right for me?

BTEC Sport will appeal to you if:

  • You have a keen interest in sport and recreation and always look forward to your PE lessons
  • You take part in sport/recreation outside of lessons
  • You want to know more about the theory of sport and exercise
  • You want to improve your own performance in a range of sports roles
  • You are considering a sports-related career or a higher education course

 

 

Assessment

 

Assessment for the BTEC First Certificate in Sport is done by the completion of assignments for each of the Units studied. This will involve theory classroom based lessons each week. There is no final examination. There will be a variety of assessment methods,

 

 

including case studies, assignments and work-based assessments, along with projects, performance observation and time-constrained assessments. Three units are chosen from the table below; at least one of the first two must be taken.

*Learners may only take either Unit 6 or Unit 7. They may not take both.
