The academy have come to Stockport County's aid by providing a 3G all-weather astroturf pitch at the last-minute for players to train on.
The request came after the pitches at County's Manor Farm training complex suffered because of the freezing weather overnight.
PE Teacher and Director of Community Engagement Mr. Cross, who was on County's books in the mid-nineties as a trainee, was delighted to help his former club out.
He said: "Last week James Gannon and Joe Connor came
into the school to deliver 100 free match tickets and whilst they were
here they signed autographs, had photos taken and played table tennis
with some of the students.
"The students who attended the game against
Kidderminster Harriers were all still full of excitement on the Monday
morning [after County's 2-1 win] and are looking forward to the next home game. When I knew that
County were struggling to find a pitch I didn't hesitate to return the
favour."
Details of James and Joe's visit to the academy, as well as parent governor Alan Livingstone's generosity in donating the 100 free match tickets, can be found in the next edition of the academy newsletter, published shortly.
