Learning Resource Centre
Below is a brief description of the Enrichment & Study Club activity taking place in the Learning Resource Centre:
LRC Homework and Reading Club
This takes place at lunch time and is supported by 2 members of staff. It is an opportunity for students to produce homework in a learning environment.
We also support reading clubs as well as solo readers who are looking to raise their reading levels or just simply want to read for pleasure.
Please see Ms. Culpeper for more information.
Study Club
This takes place every day after school in the Learning Resource Centre. Students are able to complete their homework in an environment supported by the school librarian and/or a member of the teaching staff. Students have all the necessary resources to complete their tasks such as: networked PC's, a printer and a photocopier as well as a number of written resources that have been purchased to support the curriculum.
Please see Ms. Culpeper for more information.
Book Club
This takes place bi-weekly on a Fridays after school in the Learning Resource Centre. Students read a different fiction book each term. At each session, students will identify, explore, and discuss the main themes of the text. Students are encouraged to read aloud with a view of improving reading and presentation skills. The groups are facilitated by the Learning Resource Centre Manager.
Please see Ms. Culpeper for more information.
Film Club
As a school, Film Club gives us access to over 3,000 themed films including the latest DVD releases. Film Club takes place every Wednesday after school (room tbc) and is supervised by the Learning Resource Manger and a member of the AST team.
Film is a powerful visual aid that introduces students to a wider world. They will have the chance to watch, discuss and review a diverse range of films as well as nourishing their imagination and improving their social and communication skills.
Please see Ms. Culpeper for more information.
