Maths
Below are brief descriptions of all the Enrichment & Study Club activities taking place in Maths:
Be a Maths Leader - Sixth Form
The Maths Leader Award provides the ideal starting point for students who want to develop their leadership skills. The course which leads to the award is designed to develop generic leadership skills which can be applied to a range of classroom situations. The Maths Leader Award is a practical award in which students must demonstrate their ability to lead others in basic maths activities. The award does not aim to create ‘mini Maths teachers', but to give students an understanding of what it means to be an effective leader. There will be the opportunity as you progress through the course to work with a small group of younger students so that you can put into practice the leadership skills you are working on at that time.
The benefits for you: personal development, gaining ‘life skills', it is of considerable interest to prospective universities, trainers or employers ( something to make you ‘stand out from the crowd' ).

Jaguar Cars
An opportunity for students to look at some of the Mathematics used to help set up a Formula 1 racing car. First students must ensure that they get the best possible start by producing the fast qualifying laps which means they must look at how to classify the race track and the different features. Students will use their skills to work out the best strategies and speeds for the cars around the different race tracks, working out what tyres to use, when they should schedule pit stops and how much fuel they need so that they can complete the race before their fellow drivers.
Please see Ms. Rogers for more information.
Breakfast Club
Open to all Year 10's, who want help with their GCSE maths. We provide a breakfast of tea/coffee and croissants and offer support to both Higher and Foundation students on the work you are currently doing in class. This opportunity will not only help you improve in your maths work but will also help you to become more confident in tackling your work in class.
Please see Ms. Lunt for more information.
Ensuring Progress and Success
EPS Maths is a great opportunity for year 11 students to develop and consolidate the skills that they will need to achieve their full potential in these core subjects. A variety of tailored sessions will be offered so that all student needs can be met. This is an extensive programme delivered by many different staff in the maths department so please refer to the EPS timetable.
