Adswood Primary Crowned Maths Masters At Stockport Academy Tournament

Our annual Primary Maths Tournament had a new champion this year, with Adswood Primary taking home the title after a dramatic finale to the competition.

Adswood entered a team for the first time this year, pitting their mathematical skills against St Matthews, Cheadle Heath and Lark Hill Primary Schools – with each group consisting of five students.

The tournament took the format of a number of different rounds, including a number crossword, a ‘Countdown’ round, a maths relay and a group round, where students had to decide on their own strategy to work out solutions to mathematical questions as quickly (and correctly!) as possible.

The winner seemed all but decided until the final round, when Adswood’s team put in a fantastic performance to clinch the top spot in the last minute. They were then presented with a trophy to take back to their school.

Maths Teacher Mr John, who hosted the competition alongside Ms Quigley, said: “We were really impressed with how all the competitors took on the challenge with such a positive and enthusiastic attitude, and there were clearly some very talented mathematicians taking part.

“Well done to team Adswood and indeed every group that took part. Let’s see if they can defend their title next year!”
