All-Action Residential Visit Is A Hit For Year 7s

Our Year 7s spent several days making memories in North Wales as part of our annual residential trip.

A group of 49 students travelled to Colomendy with our staff to experience a wide range of teambuilding and adventure activities at the Kingswood Centre.

Sessions included everything from fencing and archery to climbing and nightline (completing an obstacle course while blindfolded). One of the most popular activities was caving, with students set the challenge of crawling through an artificial underground network of tunnels. At the end of each day, the group enjoyed a disco or jokes and songs around a campfire.

Enrichment Co-ordinator Mr Molloy, who organised the visit, said: “Our students had the time of their lives and their attitude and behaviour was exemplary throughout the three days we were away.

“This was the first time many of this group had been away from home without their families, but they all stuck together and were incredibly supportive. These residential trips offer so many benefits and it is clear to see students developing their confidence and resilience over a relatively short amount of time.”

After a hectic few days, students arrived back at the Academy on Friday afternoon, with plenty of stories to tell their families.
