Art Showcase Draws The Crowds In

Stockport Academy welcomed back some familiar faces to celebrate the GCSE Art coursework of last year’s Year 11 students at a special showcase.

Former students, their families, staff and governors attended the evening event, with a pop-up gallery in the Atrium showing off hundreds of pieces of work.

As well as highlighting the outstanding architecture work students spent hours on for their GCSE coursework, the showcase also featured studies of individual artists and the students’ own development pieces.

There were also prizes on offer for ‘Top Achiever’ and ‘Most Improved’, with the winners receiving an art set from our Head of Art, Ms Stirling.

Ms Stirling said: “This is the most ambitious art showcase we have held at Stockport Academy and it was a really special moment to see everyone’s work on display.

“We would like to thank everyone who turned up on the night to support our class of 2018, and of course give special thanks to the students themselves who put their hearts and souls into creating this work in their final year with us.”
