Biggest Ever Year 7 Cohort Ready To Go After Transition Day

Last week we welcomed our brand new Year 7 students through our doors as part of our Transition Day.

Our biggest year group yet was met by their new Head of Year Ms Arnell in the playground on their way into school where they were registered, before making their way up to the Main Hall to find out what form group they would be in for the next five years.

They then went to their classes for the day, giving them a taste of what to expect in subjects such as ICT, French and History. After lunch, they attended a special Science display with Head of Science Mr Campbell, who treated them to an explosive demonstration of what to expect when they start studying the subject with us in September.

Elsewhere, they were shown around the Hub (library), where they were each given a brand new book thanks to a very kind donation by Odyssey Education. It left our students with a smile on their faces as they departed at the end of the day, excited to start for real in September.

Ms Arnell, who will be Head of Year 7 in the new school year, said: “It was great to meet our new students and we can’t wait to welcome them properly after the Summer. It is really exciting to think these young people will be spending the next five years at Stockport Academy and we are helping them reach their full potential from day one.”
