Feast Of Football At Stockport Academy World Cup Festival

Stockport Academy provided a feast of football for local primary schools as we hosted our first Football Festival.

Students and their families from Cheadle Heath, Alexandra Park, Lark Hill, St Matthews, Cale Green and Bridge Hall primaries came down at the end of their school day to indulge in some sporting activity.

With the sun beaming down on our Astro Pitches, conditions were perfect for a kickaround, with each team representing a different nation competing in the World Cup.

At half time, everyone made their way to the Sports Hall to enjoy some World-Cup themed refreshments, have some fun on a football bouncy castle, watch the game on TV and have a go at a keepie-up competition.

After another round of matches, all those taking part received a certificate for their superb sportsmanship and teamwork.

Head of PE Mr McGahey said: “It was great to see so many people from the community turn out to enjoy themselves and celebrate one of the biggest sporting events on the planet with us.

“Everybody had a great time and we really enjoyed hosting them. Our Sports Leaders did a great job in helping to officiate the matches and thank you also to all the staff who helped ensure the festival was a success!”
