New Year 7 Students Get Ready To Start!

Our newest cohort of students have had the chance to get to know each other ahead of starting with us in September.

With the traditional transition day in July unfortunately cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, staff have generously spent a part of their Summer Holidays helping to host a Summer School to support our new Year 7s in getting used to life at secondary school.

Every form group came in on a different day throughout August to not only get to know staff including their Form Tutor, Head of Year and Pastoral Manager, but also find out more about the other members of their class!

Each day started with a series of ice-breaker games that were designed to get students talking to people who they hadn’t previously met, before they were given the challenge of completing a ‘treasure hunt’ around the school building so they started to feel more familiar with their surroundings.

The groups also had the chance to take part in Q&A sessions about life at Stockport Academy, before finishing off with their first-ever form group photo!

Assistant Principal Mrs Milnes, who organised the Summer School, said: “We have had an absolutely brilliant couple of weeks meeting our lovely new Year 7s, who have had a fantastic attitude in working outside of their comfort zone and really making the effort to get the best possible start to secondary school. We are very proud of them and can’t wait to see them in a Stockport Academy uniform in September!”
