School Production Is ‘Practically Perfect In Every Way’

Our school production of Mary Poppins brought the house down, with the students performing in front of over 1,000 people during the run of four shows, over three days!

Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time, Mary Poppins tells the tale of a magical nanny who arrives at the home of a family who need to learn to value each other again.

The production featured countless catchy tunes, including ‘A Spoonful Of Sugar’, ‘Feed The Birds’, ‘Let’s Go Fly A Kite’, and of course ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’.

As well as two evening shows, local primary schools were invited to watch two matinee performances, with Alexandra Park, Cheadle Heath, Cale Green, St Matthews, Lark Hill, Bridge Hall, Meadowbank and Vernon Park primaries bringing along their Year 5 and 6 classes to enjoy an afternoon of musical theatre.

The production itself was of the highest standard, with amazing set designs, costumes, singing and dancing. The cast and crew were deservedly recognised with a standing ovation after their shows.

Head of Performing Arts Mrs Campbell said: “I am so proud of our students who have put the effort in tirelessly to create another fantastic Stockport Academy production.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the show, from our Art department who have spent countless lunchtimes building our props and our Facilities department for building the stunning set, to the many, many staff who have worked behind the scenes during rehearsals.

“We thoroughly enjoyed performing Mary Poppins, and plans are already underway for our next show… so watch this space!”
