Stockport Academy Choir Bring Christmas To The Trafford Centre

The Stockport Academy Choir brought festive cheer to the Trafford Centre for the second year in a row.

Around 50 students performed a mix of Christmas carols and seasonal chart-toppers to passers-by around the dolphin fountain near Boots – raising money for charity in the process.

They sang for around half an hour, receiving rapturous applause after each song – finishing with a wonderful performance of ‘Come All Ye Faithful’. Afterwards, the students were given time to explore the Trafford Centre and pick up some Christmas shopping!

The trip was organised as a rewards afternoon for Expressive Performing Arts students who had been involved in the school production of Beauty and the Beast. Last week, our choir also performed at the Once Upon A Smile charity event at St Michael’s Church in Flixton and also starred in our Christmas Concert earlier in the month.

Head of Performing Arts Mrs Campbell said: “It’s been a busy month for our department and this performance at the Trafford Centre was the perfect way to sign off for Christmas. Our students sang beautifully and certainly gained a few extra supporters today, while also raising money for good causes.

“We would like to thank the Trafford Centre for having us back for another year to perform for their shoppers and hope we will be able to return again in 2019!”
