Stockport Academy - Secondary School of the Year!

Stockport Academy was officially named the best secondary school in Greater Manchester at the MEN Schools Awards.

Our staff and students who attended the event on Friday 8th July celebrated wildly as our school’s name was announced as the winner of the final category of the afternoon, after being shortlisted alongside two other schools in the region.

It wasn’t the only award we came away with either, with our Attendance Officer Mr Farquhar being named Support Staff of the Year – a fantastic accolade in recognition of the dedication he shows every day to his role in school.

We were also shortlisted for a further two honours, with Ms Higgins narrowly missing out being named Teacher of the Year, and our Student Council also coming close for High School Team of the Year.

Principal Mrs McCann said: “This is absolutely a reflection of all of the hard work and commitment from everyone for our students.

“The thing that makes our school special is the genuine love and care for our students both inside and outside of lessons – it takes special people to create the ethos and culture that we have here in our school and I couldn’t be more proud that this has been recognised in this way.”
