Stockport Academy Student Wins National Award For Second Time
Our new Head Girl has been celebrating after winning a national anti-racism award for the second year in a row.
Year 10 student Evie spent a whole week working on her piece in school for the Show Racism The Red Card art competition, which she says was inspired by a desire to show the impact that hurtful words can have on other people.
She collected her award during a ceremony at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, which also saw dignitaries from the world of football address attendees on the issue of tackling racism in society.
Evie said: “I was really surprised when I found out I’d won again – I didn’t think it was possible to come first for two years in a row! I’m really proud of myself.”
Head of Art Ms Stirling said: “Evie is an absolute credit to herself and to Stockport Academy, and we are so pleased that her hard work and incredible talent has once again been recognised on a national level.
“Tolerance and inclusion are key components that form our ‘Respect’ value at Stockport Academy, and it is so important that we continue to spread that word.”
