Stockport Academy Students On Cloud 9 After GCSE Results Day

Students and Staff at Stockport Academy are celebrating following GCSE Results Day.

With many students accompanied by family members who also couldn’t wait to hear their news, our Atrium was a scene of jubilation after months of anxious waiting finally came to an end.

Among the many success stories was Dom Cieszynski, who achieved four 9s, three 8s and an A – and is now going to study “Maths, Maths and more Maths” at Aquinas College.

With a numerical grading system replacing the traditional A*-G grading, Dom wasn’t the only student who found himself on Cloud 9 after finding out he had been awarded the highest grade.

Outgoing Head Girl Farideh Clare picked up a 9 in Art, and will now go on to student the subject alongside Maths and Psychology at Aquinas, while Jack Edwards achieved 9s in Biology and Physics, and will also attend Aquinas to study Biology, Geography and Computer Science.

Danny Thornhill and Maria Ayoob achieved 9s in Maths and Art respectively, with Danny going on to study Maths, Accounting and Business at Aquinas and Maria heading to Xaverian College to continue her education in Chemistry, Biology and History.

Principal Mrs McCann said: “We are all delighted for our students who have received the grades they were hoping for and beyond. Everyone has risen to the challenge of the new grading system exceptionally well and today is a testament to the hard work of students and staff, the latter of which I would like to thank for always going the extra mile to help our students achieve their potential.

“We wish all our students the very best as they set out on the next stage of their lives – we are confident they have very exciting futures ahead of them.”
