Student Newsletter Reporters Shine At National Awards

Our student newsletter became an award-winning publication after picking up national recognition at the Shine School Media Awards.

Six of our ‘Spark’ reporters were invited to attend the ceremony at Stationers Hall in London to receive a ‘Rising Star’ Award – highlighting their potential for future success in the print media industry.

Upon arrival in the capital, the group posed for a quick photo by St Paul’s Cathedral before heading over to the event. The first part of the morning involved visiting a series of workshops and trade stalls, with students learning about how a printing press works and how printers have developed over the years to modern-day 3D printing technology.

After a delicious lunch, the awards ceremony began – and the group were delighted to be invited on stage to receive their prize. They also received a goodie bag on the way out, along with a keepsake ‘Winners’ Programme’.

Mr Prince, who runs the ‘Spark’ co-curricular club, said: “I am so proud of our students for achieving this national award and it is thoroughly deserved for the work they have put in every week to produce a top quality student newsletter.

“We all really enjoyed our day out in London and I am sure they will go on to achieve even greater things in the years to come.”
