Sun Shines On Stockport Academy’s Primary Football Festival

Our annual Primary Football Festival took place under the sunny July sky, with a feast of activities on offer to celebrate the beautiful game.

Taking place during the Women’s World Cup, dozens of students from local primary schools came over to our Astro Pitch at the end of their school day to take part in some footballing fun.

Instead of playing with their classmates, students were grouped in with those from other schools – encouraging them to develop their communication and teamwork skills. After several rounds of matches, everyone took a break to enjoy some international-themed snacks.

It wasn’t just about what happened on the pitch – with visitors taking full advantage of a bouncy castle and several football mini-games and challenges, such as ‘Beat The Keeper’ and ‘Keepie Uppies’ to see who could get the highest score before everyone made their way home.

PE Teacher Ms Foster, who organised the event, said: “It was great to see such a fantastic turnout and the students certainly seemed like they were having a great time.

“I would also like to thank our own Stockport Academy Sports Leaders, who helped to run the festival on the day by refereeing games, looking after the mini-games and managing the buffet. You were a real credit to yourselves and to our school.”
