Year 7 Residential Brings The Best Out Of Students

Year 7 students had the time of their lives after spending three days away from home on our annual residential in North Wales.

Over 80 students travelled with staff to Kingswood on Wednesday morning, and after a brief tour of the facilities and dropping their bags off at their rooms, they launched straight into their first activities.

Groups had the chance to have a go at a wide range of challenges and tasks including Jacob’s ladder, climbing, abseiling, caving, fencing, balance beams, night line (a blindfolded walk through the woods) and team tech – a building activity using giant construction sets.

At the end of the first day, everyone had their tea before going straight to the disco, which ended with a dance-off with other schools!

The next day was just as action-packed, with students continuing to try different activities before enjoying some downtime playing pool in ‘The Hub’. In the evening, everyone sat around a campfire toasting marshmallows while playing games and singing.

On the last day, the groups got involved in their final activities and packed up to go home. The bus ride back to school was particularly quiet, with many enjoying the opportunity for a snooze after a non-stop couple of days!

Co-curricular co-ordinator Ms Foster, who organised the trip, said: “We had an amazing time at Kingswood and our students behaved impeccably throughout. They coped brilliantly with working outside of their comfort zone - boosting their confidence and helping to improve their teamwork skills.

“We all enjoyed a couple of days making memories that will no doubt last a lifetime.”
