Students Excel At Making The News

National BBC School Report took place on 15th March and Stockport Academy was once again involved for the third year in a row.

Students from the school’s student newsletter, ‘Spark’, spent weeks putting together their news stories, before turning their classroom into a makeshift TV studio to record their own video report.

As well as creating reports that included vox-pops and as-live interviews, they also got to try their hand at using blue screen technology to present the weather and other features.

The final version can be viewed below, with reports on a wide range of school events, including World Book Day, Sport Relief, and the Performing Arts Showcase.

Mr Prince, who runs Spark every Friday, said: “It is always a fantastic challenge to produce a real video news report in a day and once again our students have succeeded with a phenomenal piece of work.

“The group have dedicated so much time and effort to making the report and it really shows. They can all be extremely proud of the end result.”
