Inspirational Night At Stockport Academy Performance Awards

Our second annual Performance Awards celebrated the best of our Performing Arts and PE departments last night.

Held at the Village Hotel, students and staff donned their finest formalwear to enjoy a sumptuous three-course meal, before the presentation of awards.

This year, we were lucky enough to welcome Paralympic Cycling Gold Medallist Megan Giglia MBE as our guest speaker. Megan told everyone her truly inspirational story of coming back from a stroke in 2013 and losing control of her body, to winning a Gold medal at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Megan then presented every award-winner with their trophy, with categories covering everything from Music, Dance, Drama and the school production to Netball, Football and Sports Leaders.

Head of PE Mr McGahey, who organised the night, said: “The Stockport Academy Performance Awards are a real highlight of the school year and it was great to see so many students turn out for what was a fantastic night celebrating some superb achievements. We are committed to providing students with an Education with Character and nights like this certainly support this value.

“We would like to thank Megan once again for presenting the awards on the night – she is an amazing person and we were honoured to have her as our guest.”
