Year 11 Work Experience Drives Students' Ambitions

Some of our Year 11 students were recently given work experience by local employer Lex Autolease. Student Ariba Shazad wrote this report.

We would like to thank Lex Autolease for organising a wonderful time for us at our work experience, and allowing us to see what working is like in the real world.

We all have greatly benefited for our time at Lex, through the variety of sessions we were involved in. As we all have high aspirations for our futures, we were able to see what our jobs could be like, and we were given great advice from different employees, who had similar experiences and ambitions as us. Although Lex Autolease is a car leasing company, there were a wide range of jobs we talked about, from accountancy to pilots.

This was a very educational and helpful three-day visit, but we all also had a great time. Seeing the ‘behind the scenes’ of everything that goes into a business was very fun. We all particularly enjoyed listening to the calls at accident services. The best part of the visit was the presentation on the last day, about everything we had learnt throughout the experience. We all had our individual parts to say what we enjoyed most and how the visit had helped us. We also got the chance to give some input and ideas about what we thought the business could do to improve. This presentation helped us improve our confidence and gave us an idea of what we may have to do as part of our own jobs one day.

This whole experience was very exciting and beneficial for all of us, so thank you again. We would highly recommend this to other students if the opportunity became available. We would like to say a special thanks to Tracy, Claire and Andy for organising this visit and taking care of us whilst we were there. We are all very grateful to have been chosen to take part in this work experience.
