‘Inspirational’ Recognition for Stockport Academy
/ Categories: News
Stockport Academy has been named one of the most inspirational secondary schools in the North-West at a top awards ceremony.
We were among four schools across the region to be shortlisted for the honour at the Educate Awards, which were held as part of a virtual ceremony on Friday 29th January.
Judges described the school as an ‘aspirational, enriching, proud and generous community’ where ‘staff want students to remember school as a time of enjoyment and fascination in learning about themselves and the world around them’.
We have received a number of accolades recently, (you can find out more about them here) including the National Safeguarding Initiative Award in recognition of its excellent standard of care provided to students and their families during the first national lockdown last year.
Principal Mrs McCann said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised as one of the most inspirational secondary schools. This recognition is testament to our students, staff, governors and families who work hard to create a thriving learning experience in everything we do.
“This recognition reflects our mission to provide our students with an ‘Education with Character’ as part of which we seek to develop our students into responsible, articulate and ambitious young adults. Our students are always ready to take on new challenges and try things they have never done before. They constantly amaze me with what they are achieving and truly are an inspiration to everyone around them.”
