It’s official: Stockport Academy is a good school with outstanding features

The results are in and it’s official: Stockport Academy is a good school with outstanding features, according to our latest Ofsted report.

Among the highlights the team of inspectors noted was the “impeccable” behaviour of students, who they said “treat each other and adults with real respects, and are courteous and helpful at all times”.

Furthermore the inspectors said students have a “genuine enjoyment of school”, which has had a positive effect by “rapidly” improving attendance.

Another key finding was the unanimous view of students that they are completely safe in the school and have “total confidence that they are well cared for”.

Principal Mr McCarron said: “I have never been more proud. This report rightly acknowledges the hard work of students, staff, parents and governors over the last three years and I would like to thank them for all they have done for Stockport Academy.

“We are delighted that the inspectors saw strong evidence of how far the academy has come in recent years and we are particularly pleased that they described the behaviour of students as impeccable.”

The inspectors also acknowledged the “relentless drive and determination” displayed by the senior leaders and governors to ensure students receive the best possible education. Additionally, they stated that “teaching, achievement and behavior have all improved rapidly since the last inspection”.

However, the Academy isn’t about to rest on its laurels.

Our aim is to complete the journey to ‘Outstanding’ by the time of the next inspection and we are confident that we will do so,” Mr McCarron said.

In the meantime, a huge congratulations and thanks to all students and staff at the Academy – you’ve done us all proud!
