National Safeguarding Award For Stockport Academy
Stockport Academy has received an award in recognition of our outstanding safeguarding practices during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The ‘Safeguarding Initiative Award’ celebrates schools that have demonstrated exceptional initiative to keep children and young people safe throughout the Covid-19 lockdown.
Our school was praised for regularly keeping in touch with every single family during the temporary closure, through a range of means including phone calls home and texts/mobile app messages.
Judges were also impressed with the level of resources made available for families to support students’ wellbeing, including signposting to charities and organisations offering advice on social media, as well as activities and competitions on our own website.
We recently also teamed up with the Manchester United Foundation who generously offered a £10,000 grant to support families with food parcels. You can read about that online here.

“This award is testament to our staff who have worked tirelessly and under unprecedented circumstances to make a difference to our students and their families, and they cannot be praised highly enough for their dedication to ensuring the safety of our young people.”
