Stockport Academy Sixth Form raises nearly £1,500 for Teenage Cancer Trust

Our Sixth Formers carried out a sponsored walk to raise money for a cause close to their hearts – and ended up smashing their fundraising target in the process.
Originally, students wanted to raise £500 to go towards the Teenage Cancer Trust as a show of support for the charity after the outstanding care it delivered to two Stockport Academy Sixth Formers. However, this target was then increased to £1,000 before the donation total reached £1,360 shortly before they set off on their trek.
Their route took them from the academy down Bird Hall Lane and then on to Cheadle Road, finishing off at Bruntwood Park. A group of around 50 students took part, who enjoyed refreshments and even a game of football at the Park before heading back through Cheadle Village.
Assistant Principal and Head of Sixth Form Ms Appleby said: “What a great day and what a great group of students we have.
“It was amazing to see everyone come together to raise a phenomenal amount of money for the Teenage Cancer Trust and even more inspiring to see how they’ve supported each other and really made a difference when it mattered. I couldn’t be prouder and thank you to all who were involved.”
