Stockport Academy’s latest Peer Mentor group is ready and raring to go in their new role after spending a day at a special training session.
The 15 students – currently in Year 9 – attended the Anti-Bullying Ambassador workshop at Manchester Creative and Media Academy to learn all about what responsibilities they are about to take on and what they need to do to succeed.
Accompanied by Year 9 Pastoral Manager Mr Cheetham, the group was able to share ideas with five other schools and find out more about how to support younger members of the school.
After voting for an anti-bullying lead, they designed a programme of events to raise awareness of the issue when they officially start their role in September. To read more about our Peer Mentors and what they do, click here.
Mr Cheetham said: “The day was really useful and I’m sure it will help our new Peer Mentors follow in the award-winning footsteps of their predecessors.
“The students now can’t wait to get started in the new school year and do everything they can to help our new Year 7s settle in – and I’m sure they’ll all do an amazing job!”
