Yesterday was another busy day for our students in the run up to Christmas, with several groups getting involved in spreading some festive cheer across the local community.
The Stockport Academy choir visited Lex Autolease’s offices to perform for the company’s Christmas dinner and were treated to lunch themselves as a reward – with turkey, gammon and all the trimmings piled high onto their plates!
Staff at Lex Autolease have been extremely supportive of the school throughout the year and were very generous once again, donating a huge stockpile of food and drink for us to give out to some of our families over the Christmas holidays. Similarly, they have been raising money for wood bark to be used in our Reflection Garden and these efforts continued with colleagues holding a hot drinks and bake sale.
Meanwhile, over at Walthew House in Cale Green, our charity group attended Socially Yours’ annual Christmas Party. Through the kind efforts of staff, parents and students we managed to donate 20 food hampers to this worthy cause, which the charity members presented on Tuesday.
Students mingled with the party guests for around an hour, before treating them to a rendition of some Christmas carol favourites.
Principal Frank McCarron said: “I am so proud of the generosity and positive attitude of our students all year, but this particularly shines through at Christmas time.
“Thank you so much to both Lex Autolease and Socially Yours for welcoming us once again into their communities and on behalf of Stockport Academy I would like to wish everyone involved a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.”
