‘Young Bond’ author visits Stockport Academy

Stockport Academy students’ imaginations were shaken and stirred thanks to a visit by Young Bond author Steve Cole.

Steve, who was commissioned by original Bond author Ian Fleming’s estate to write the series of novels, spoke to Year 7 students about his love of writing, what inspires him and his passion for the spy fiction and science fiction genres.

Year 5 and 6 students from Cheadle Heath Primary School also attended the event, which concluded with a Q and A session and a book signing. Three students were also awarded a computer tablet after winning a Design a Book Cover Competition based on Steve’s work.

The author is currently touring schools around the country as part of the launch for the second book in the Young Bond series, ‘Heads You Die’. His other novels include ‘Astrosaurs’, ‘Cows-in-Action’, ‘Magic Ink’ and ‘Aliens Stink’.

Stockport Academy Librarian Alan Clarke said: “Steve was a lively, funny, really engaging guest and we were delighted to welcome him to Stockport Academy. His enthusiasm was quite infectious and our students loved finding out what it takes to be a successful writer. We would like to thank Simply Books for arranging his visit.”
