Santa, Stalls and Sausages at Stockport Academy Christmas Market

We opened our doors to the local community on Saturday 26th November for our annual Christmas Market, which was busier than ever!

Over 50 stalls were represented on the day with everything from crafts to cupcakes on offer for visitors, who arrived in their droves.

Along with performances by the school choir and steel band, the Salvation Army Brass Band also performed, bringing a real festive feeling to the building. Younger (and older!) guests also had the chance to meet Pokemon’s Pikachu, Olaf the Snowman and a Minion.

Of course the real highlight of the day was Santa himself, who arrived in his sleigh and met children and parents in his grotto along with two of his elves!

With the smell of delicious German Bratwurst wafting out of the refectory and through the atrium it was no surprise that many people also left with their bellies full, while a tasty chocolate fountain offered a treat for those with a sweet tooth.

One of the most popular features every year is the Chocolate Tombola – and once again this did not let down expectations with over 600 items of chocolate up for grabs. Not surprisingly this was one of the first stalls to sell out!

Executive Principal Mr McCarron said: “It’s fair to say this year’s Christmas Market was the biggest and best yet and I would like to thank everyone who attended either as a guest or as part of the organising team.

“The day really epitomises the community values we share within the school every day and the atmosphere was absolutely amazing throughout. We’re all feeling very festive and can’t wait until next year’s event already!”
