Members of our Public Speaking Club have been reading a Roald Dahl classic to a real audience at two special events.
A number of students were involved in trips to Tatton Park and St Matthews Primary School in Edgeley to entertain listeners with the tale of 'James And The Giant Peach'.
The group visited the Cheshire beauty spot as part of its Roald Dahl's Tremendous Adventures event at Tatton Park to celebrate the author's centenary year. They read excerpts of the book to younger children and adults alike before exploring the grounds and writing a review of the day.
Earlier this month, students visited St Matthews Primary School's reception class to read the book to them. They were also watched by a couple of Year 6 students who are coming to Stockport Academy in September, giving them the perfect impression of what they can expect to be getting up to in a year's time!
Emma from Public Speaking Club said their audience was 'a pleasure' to read to, while Logan said the trip was a 'great experience'.
Ms Honey, who runs the enrichment club, said: "It's been a pleasure to witness the group developing their skills and confidence. It was a proud moment for me watching them read to such a large and varied audience both at Tatton Park and at St Matthews and they should be delighted with their work.
"Thank you to Ms Saddler who helped us to organise the visit to St Matthews and we look forward to similar events in the future."
